Toyota Yaris: Theft Deterrent System / System Description
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
OUTLINE OF THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM
-
The theft deterrent system can be set by locking the doors using any of the following operations:
-
Entry lock operation
-
Wireless lock operation
-
Key linked lock operation
-
By opening and closing the doors
-
In the armed state, the alarm function will be activated if one of the following conditions is met:
-
Any of the doors are unlocked.
-
Any of the doors or the engine hood is opened.
-
In the alarm sounding state, the system blinks the turn signal lights. At the same time, the system sounds the vehicle horns and security horn assembly to deter break-in and theft as well as to warn people around the vehicle.

The theft deterrent system can be canceled by unlocking the doors using the following operation:
-
Entry unlock operation

Wireless unlock operation
-
Key linked unlock operation*1

The theft deterrent system has an active arming mode. There are 4 states in this mode: a disarmed state, an arming preparation state, an armed state and an alarm sounding state.
(a) Disarmed state:

The alarm function is not operating.

The theft deterrent system is not operating.
(b) Arming preparation state:

The time until the system goes into the armed state.

The theft deterrent system is not operating.
(c) Armed state:
-
The theft deterrent system is operating.
(d) Alarm sounding state:

The alarm function is operating.
Alarm time:
Approximately 27.5 seconds

ACTIVE ARMING MODE
(a) Active arming mode:
This system operates as described in the diagram below when one of the items for each condition is met.

The term "all doors" used in this section refers to the driver door, front passenger door and back door.

Condition [1] | In disarmed state, when the ignition switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met: -
With all doors and the engine hood closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation, entry operation or key linked lock operation.

With all doors locked and the engine hood closed, the state changes from any of the doors being opened to all doors being closed.

Condition [2] | In disarmed state, when the ignition switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met: -
With all doors and the engine hood opened, all doors are locked by wireless operation, entry operation or key linked lock operation.

With all doors and the engine hood opened, the state changes from any of the doors being opened to all doors being closed.

Condition [3] | One of the following conditions is met: -
All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, entry operation or key linked unlock operation.

Any door is unlocked.

Any door is opened.

The engine switch is pushed.
-
The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.
-
The auxiliary battery is reconnected.

Condition [4] | -
The engine hood is opened.

Condition [5] | -
Allow approximately 30 seconds to elapse.

Condition [6] | -
The engine hood is closed.
|
Condition [7] | One of the following conditions is met: -
The ignition switch is turned to ON and the engine is running at 550 rpm for 2 seconds or more.

All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, entry operation or key linked unlock operation.

The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.
-
The ignition switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG) within 5 seconds after the engine switch is pushed.

Condition [8] | One of the following conditions is met: -
The engine hood is opened when the engine hood is closed.
-
Any door is opened when all doors are closed.
-
Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked not by wireless operation, entry operation or key linked unlock operation.
-
When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine switch is pressed, the ignition switch is turned from off to ON without pressing the engine switch.
-
The auxiliary battery is reconnected when the engine hood is open, any door is open or any door is unlocked.
-
The ignition switch is ON.
-
After warning, engine hood remains open.
-
After warning, any door remains open.
-
After warning, ignition switch ON.

Condition [9] | If both of the following conditions are met, the alarm stops and the system returns to Armed State (1). -
After warning time of 27.5 seconds elapses.

Condition [10] | One of the following conditions is met: -
The engine hood is opened when the engine hood is closed.
-
Any door is opened when all doors are closed.
-
Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked not by wireless operation or entry operation.
-
When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine switch is pressed, the ignition switch is turned from off to ON without pressing the engine switch.
-
The auxiliary battery is reconnected when the engine hood is open, any door is open or any door is unlocked.

The ignition switch is ON.
-
After warning, engine hood remains open.
-
After warning, any door remains open.
-
After warning, ignition switch ON.

Condition [11] | If both of the following conditions are met, the alarm stops and the system returns to Armed State (2). -
After warning time of 27.5 seconds elapses.

The engine hood was closed before the alarm condition.

Condition [12] | -
The engine hood is closed when the engine hood is opened.

HINT:
*1: If close before auto alarm set or close during auto alarm set.
FORCED DOOR LOCK CONTROL
(a) The forced door lock control prevents the vehicle from being tampered with. Immediately after a door is unlocked (armed state), all doors are forced to lock by a forced door lock signal.
(1) If the following conditions are met, the forced door lock control is operated.

The key is not in the key cylinder.
-
The theft deterrent system is in the armed state.
-
Any door is unlocked.
SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OUTPUT
(a) According to the state of the theft deterrent system, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) outputs a signal to turn the security indicator light on. However, some of the actual lighting conditions of the security indicator light are different from the output signals of the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

HINT:
When the immobiliser function is set, the security indicator light blinks during both the disarmed state and the armed state due to output signals from the immobiliser function.
