REMOVAL
PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
Click here
3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
Click here
4. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
Click here
5. REMOVE COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY
Click here
6. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR TUBE
(a) remove the 2 bolts. | |
(b) Loosen the 2 hose clamps to remove the No. 1 air tube from the No. 2 air hose and No. 3 air hose.
7. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR HOSE
(a) Loosen the hose clamp to remove the No. 2 air tube from the turbocharger sub-assembly. | |
8. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and disengage the engine wire from the timing chain cover assembly. | |
9. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY

10. REMOVE TIMING GEAR COVER INSULATOR
(a) Remove the timing gear cover insulator from the timing chain cover assembly. | |
11. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

12. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 12 bolts and seal washer. | |
(b) Remove the timing chain cover sub-assembly by prying between the timing chain cover sub-assembly and oil pan sub-assembly, cylinder block sub-assembly with a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape.
(c) Remove the oil pump gasket from the cylinder block sub-assembly. NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the oil pan sub-assembly. | |
13. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL

Automatic transaxle: Shift the selector lever to the P position and set the parking brake.
Press the push button start to turn off the engine. The ignition position is off.
