The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during the power steering ECU assembly removal/installation are shown below.

HINT:
When the cable is disconnected/reconnected to the auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR OR UPPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
NOTICE:
(a) Disconnect the connector. | |
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and power steering ECU assembly from the electric power steering column sub-assembly. | |
4. REMOVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR SHAFT DAMPER
(a) Remove the electric power steering motor shaft damper from the electric power steering column sub-assembly. | |
Automatic transaxle: Shift the selector lever to the P position and set the parking brake.
Press the push button start to turn off the engine. The ignition position is off.
