REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing) removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE
1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

3. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

4. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY
(a) Loosen the 4 bolts holding the water pump pulley. | |
(b) Remove the fan and generator V-belt.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.
5. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the water inlet with water pump housing sub-assembly. | |
7. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the water inlet. | |
8. REMOVE AIR CONNECTOR STAY
(a) Remove the bolt and air connector stay from the water inlet with water pump housing sub-assembly. | |
9. REMOVE WATER INLET WITH WATER PUMP HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose from the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly. NOTICE:

(b) Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and water inlet with water pump housing sub-assembly from the cylinder block sub-assembly. | |
(c) Remove the gasket from the water inlet with water pump housing sub-assembly. | |
10. REMOVE WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

Automatic transaxle: Shift the selector lever to the P position and set the parking brake.
Press the push button start to turn off the engine. The ignition position is off.
