PROCEDURE

1. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE

(a) Remove the rear wheels.

(b) Temporarily install the hub nuts.

HINT:

Secure the rear disc with the hub nuts.

(c) Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug.

(d) Turn the parking brake shoe adjuster and expand the shoes until the rear disc locks.

Contract

(e) Turn and contract the parking brake shoe adjuster until the rear disc can rotate smoothly.

Standard:

Returns 8 notches

(f) Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

(g) Install the parking brake shoe adjusting hole plug.

(h) Remove the hub nuts.

(i) Install the rear wheels.

2. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL

(a) Pull the parking brake lever to fully engage the parking brake.

(b) Release the parking brake lever to disengage the parking brake.

(c) Slowly pull the parking brake lever using the specified force, and count the number of clicks.

Parking Brake Lever Travel at 200 N (20 kgf, 45.0 lbf):

5 to 8 clicks

If the parking brake lever travel is not as specified, adjust the parking brake lever travel.

3. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL

(a) Remove the console rear end panel sub-assembly.

(b) Completely release the parking brake lever.

(c) Turn the No. 1 wire adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is corrected to within the specified range.

Parking brake lever travel at 200 N (20 kgf, 45.0 lbf):

5 to 8 clicks

NOTICE:

If the No. 1 wire adjusting nut has been removed from the rod, replace it with a new one.

(d) Operate the parking brake lever 3 to 4 times, and check the parking brake lever travel.

(e) Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

(f) Install the console rear end panel sub-assembly.

4. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

(a) When operating the parking brake lever, check that the parking brake warning light illuminates.

Standard:

Parking brake warning light always illuminates at the first click.
