REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

    Lane tracing assist system

    Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 35 km/h (22 mph) or more for 5 seconds or more.

    Pre-collision system

    Stop and start system

    Drive the vehicle until stop and start control is permitted (approximately 5 to 60 minutes)

  • Learning completes when vehicle is operated normally

    Power door lock control system

    • Back door opener

    Perform door unlock operation with door control switch or electrical key transmitter sub-assembly switch.

    Air conditioning system

    After the ignition switch is turned to ON, the servo motor standard position is recognized.

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

  • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

  • When the starter assembly is replaced, "ST NO. 1 relay" must also be replaced.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

4. DISCONNECT NO. 6 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 6 water by-pass hose from the oil cooler hose.

5. DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the oil cooler hose.

6. REMOVE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and oil cooler assembly from the oil pan sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the 2 o-rings.

7. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER

(a) Disconnect the claw as shown in the illustration to remove the flywheel housing side cover.

8. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 2 starter assembly connectors.

(b) Open the terminal cap.

(c) Disengage the clamp to separate the engine wire.

(d) Remove the nut and disconnect the engine wire from terminal 30.

(e) Remove the 2 bolts and starter assembly from the cylinder block sub-assembly.

(f) Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the starter assembly.
